We hope you'll find answers to some common questions here. If you don't find what you're looking for contact us via the link at the bottom of the page and ask us what you want to know. Then we'll post your question and our answer here...we'll also send you our answer as a reply to your e-mail.
At the moment the kits are only available on-line through our web sites. Once we see how much interest there is we hope we'll stock kits at the US location Vogue Fabrics, Evanston and we'll have them at any events where Vogue Farbrics or Farthingales are vendoring.

We'd like to offer this service but we cut and bundle several kits at one time and this would require a change in our production that would slow things down and there would be a higher risk of error. The kits are set up in the database as using certain products so making a change is not as simple as it might seem. We hate having to say "No" but unfortunatly that is what we have to say on this.
That's always a hard question to answer. We have no way of knowing what your talent is but we have designed these kits to be as simple as a corset kit can be. Ginger thinks that most people could make the corset without any problems as long as they take their time, read the instructions and focus on the details. She says: "These really are simple kits but some things are different than what you do sewing anything else, so you really can't just assume anything. Follow the instructions and it will work out no matter what your sewing skill is."
Some of the kits are more difficult than others so you may want to avoid those with extra trims.
The corset classes are typically taught by Linda Sparks (a.k.a Ginger) of Farthingales and they're typically hosted by Vogue Fabrics in Evanston. The class that's currently on the agenda is based on these kits. More extensive classes have been done but we're trying to keep the classes both time and cost effective. While classes in the past have been for fully boned overbust corsets - that took a full two days; the new classes are ONE DAY classes for waist cinchers and are more of an introduction. Chances are 2010 will see both classes offered.
It's important for you to decide which kit you want before you order as we do not accept kit returns at either location. To take a kit back would require us going through the kit to be sure all components are still there and if good order, this would cost us and it would cost you the return shipping of the kit. If we do agree to take the kit back there will be a service charge.
That depends on several things. First if we don't have it in stock we have to cut one and we only cut every 2-3 weeks. If we do have it in stock and you're in the USA ordering from Vogue Fabrics you'll likely have it within 7 days. If you're in Canada and order from Farthingales (this option will be available in the future) it will take up to 10 days...depends on where you are. If you're ordering from Farthingales (this will be available in the future)for an international delivery count on 2-4 weeks though it often is faster. So, it's best to count on 3-6 weeks in-case we don't have the kit in stock. Count on that and you may be pleasantly surprised when it comes earlier!
The pattern we use for this kit is not a commercial pattern and we have not yet had it commercially printed...we have not determine yet if we will. The pattern is proven to have worked on many body types. So at this point no the pattern is not available for sale. If it ever is we'll let everyone know by announcing it in our BLAST
YES! If you see a kit you want and you don't sew or...don't want to make the kit for any reason. Rye and Ginger do offer a "Made to Order" service. You can order the kit you want in the size you need and they will make it for you. There is an $85.00 fee for this service and the amount must be paid in advance.
You'll need to contact Ginger about this - eventually we will have a special page to for Made to Order corsets but that will likely be in early 2010.
Order by clicking on the links provided at the bottom of each corset kit description. There should be two links one for American bound orders:Vogue Fabrics, and one fr Canadian and International bound orders:Farthingales
If there is only one link that means the kit is only available at one location.
