The Rye & Ginger kits are designed to make corset making fun and easy but they are not designed to create sturdy corsets for waist training. They will mould your body into a curvier shape but like any garment they will wear out with regular wear. This is a great learning tool and you’ll end up with a decent fashion or costume corset that fits you at a fraction of the cost of a custom one. But these kits will not likely result in a family heirloom. If you want a real body shaping corset check out those listed as "Coutil Corset Kits"
The Rye & Ginger kits will create a 2 layer, 8 panel corset. That means there will be 4 panels to each side of your corset and each panel will have two layers; a shell and a lining for a total of 16 pieces, but don’t let this intimidate you! You’ll be treating each panel of lining and shell as one piece so you’re only really dealing with 8 pieces.
Most kits DO NOT contain "coutil" or steel bones

- Pre-cut fabric pieces in the size/fabric you ordered
- Exceptional quality plastic bones - you'll be amazed
- Busk, all busks are silver unless otherwise stated
- Binding
- Lacing
- Size label….so you know later what size it was you made
- Special trims & findings will be included with certain kits
The kit does not include grommets! To complete your corset you will need grommets. If you don’t have a grommet kit you can purchase one at either Vogue Fabrics or Farthingales. The Kit also does not include thread, black or white thread are good for most kits.

Corset Kits
Rye and Ginger Kits have created several kit styles based on one corset block. The block they’ve chosen is a “Classic Waist Cincher”.Classic Waist Cincher – think fairytale characters such as Sleeping Beauty. This corset is a short corset with a “V” front. This is a great choice for creating an “accessory” type corset – one you can wear as a belt and be in fashion today.
